The Town of Scarborough is seeking a full-time Network and Telecomm Administrator I to join the Town’s Information Technology (IT) team. This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Town’s data and voice communications network based on standards established by the Director of Information Technology.

Primary responsibilities include active engagement in the triage of issues presented by department staff and end-users, maintaining the network and telecomm infrastructure as directed, and focusing on network configuration, maintenance and security. This position installs, configures, upgrades, optimizes, monitors, manages and maintains numerous hardware, software, services, databases, virtual environments, and infrastructure as directed by IT management. Duties also include responding to help-desk and end-user requests, providing professional, courteous and efficient service to all internal and external customers; effectively communicating solutions to peers in person as well as in documentation when a workaround or fix to a common problem is discovered; coordinating with external vendors; and providing end-user training to Town and/or School employees.

Position requirements: Associates Degree or equivalent in experience in Information Technology, Computer Science or other related technical discipline required. MCSE and/or CCNA certifications preferred. Solid knowledge of computer hardware and software capabilities, configurations, and limitations, as well as experience working in these environments characterized by satisfactory performance. Minimum five years of experience with technical implementation, practices and procedures. Excellent technical, analytical and project management skills; strong interpersonal and leadership skills in a team-based technical environment; excellent written and oral communications skills. The equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered at the Town’s discretion.
